A more powerful Power Grid

Saturday night I got to play my favorite game, Power Grid.
I have been aiming for several games to have 1 more city powered than the end game condition, and I finally did it last nite.
I have won a couple of games via most money as the tie-breaker, but last night I made a slightly risky move in demolishing my 3 city wind plant so that I might be able to power 15, compared to 14 to trigger end game...and it worked. :)
I am just saying I need more competition to cure me of my hubris, so bring it on! :P

Denise will put you in your right place. :)

I'm intrigued by the new China/Korea maps...

I finally got to open some of my games. I think I would enjoy California with more players. I didn't like Ticket to Ride Nordic as much as the original. I don't think the ferries and tunnels add anything to the game since there is a way around them. Even though the game is for only 2-3 people, the map is too small and it is really easy to shut a player out. Ticket to Ride Card game was fun but it would be real easy to be vindictive. I made much smaller routes but went for the bonus cards and it really worked to my advantage. Waterworks was fun as usual. I only got as far as reading the rules for San Juan and separating Agricola. I wouldn't mind playing Agricola, Merchants of Venice or San Juan with some pros! I find out in a few hours if my foot is really broken, either way I'm sure I will have to take it easy on the yard work and such for a few days.

Ooh, what happened to your foot Denise (I'm assuming gaming diva is Denise?)

I hope it's okay.

Hey Rob: Is Pirate's Cove the Days of Wonder Game. I've always wanted to play it. It could be a cool game that friends and family would also enjoy.

Hi Tom, yes it's Denise. I have an old ankle injury and while I was in Plano walking my dogs it turned the wrong way and caused a "significant" sprain. Good news, I was able to round up my dogs and the foot isn't broken. Bad news, I have to keep weight off my foot for another 5 days. Just means more time for gaming and watching any new tv shows! :-)

Check the previous blog and comments on Pirate's Cove. I almost ordered it when I saw it on Tanga and I am now glad I didn't.
