In search of gaming...

I posted this on Houstongamers. Go check it out. I'm just in the mood for a whole weekend of gaming.

I still haven't played anything since the last San Jac meeting I went to. I've actually been playing a lot of Quakelive on my computer, but haven't had the time to get back into more time-consuming games like Empire:Total War. I've gotten in touch with the SA group again, but I still haven't seen them. There may be some gaming this weekend...and it sounds like it will be a "full day of BSG"... yeah...

Good Luck.

Denise has picked up the Thursday evening games and its going very well.

We have played:

All decent games, all decent folks!

When I left San Jac last weekend,
there was some talk of having at least one full day of gaming on Sept. 5 and there is Fuddruckers on the 6th.

I am always open to having a small group at my house on Sat. or Sun. I have been enjoying Thurs. nights! I finally got to play ACfaS (really liked) that I've had since Mother's Day and I got to play Intrigue. Intrigue really adds to Dominion! Though I did find out that I would NEVER make it as a railroad engineer (Steam).

Rob, just let us know when you can be in town and we will set something up for at least one day!!!

Unfortunately, I will be in Austin Labor Day weekend for the Austin Triathlon and then staying for work.

Thanks for hosting, Denise. It was fun and some good gaming got done.

Steam, and all the different variants of it (AoS, RT, etc.), are games you have to play a couple of times to "get" them. Once you fall off that Steam Horse, ya gotta get back on...don't let the Horse win!

The last time I played that system was when RT first came out, the time before that was when the first AoS was published. My skills at the system are very rusty as well.

I am not a "fan" of train games but I enjoy playing them once in a while. I think Steam is a well polished mature version of a system that has gone through a few editions and upgrades. My game collection was lacking in games of this type so I figured now was a good time to jump on the rails.

Peace

I think Steam is a great game. It just takes me a while to get games where you 'construct' things. I thought Rob would get a chuckle out of my comment. Before Rob left, he and Lewis tried to teach me Galaxy Trucker......kinda hard to 'construct' an alien ship when you don't know what it is suppose to look like. It took me until round 3 before my ship lasted the whole round. I will say that I have never laughed so hard at a board game and it was quite fun. I would play either of those games given the opportunity! Would they be in my collection.....

Full day of gaming? at San Jac?

What's ACfaS?

I think I'm picking up Steam in the near future.

GD, I thought your aversion was to anything Sci-fi or space... not the 'construction' mechanic. :)

A Castle for all Seasons - great game. I can't wait to play the winter side....a few of the cards are wicked.

I'm not really into Sci-Fi. I like some construction games, just lousy at it! :-}

People at San Jac. last weekend were disappointed in no gaming over Labor Day and they were trying to figure something out. I left at 8:30 and I don't know if anything came out of it.

Anybody want to play Le Havre tomorrow afternoon, starting around 1 or 2? I can't stay late past around 5 or so otherwise I'd just show up at San Jac.

Where? I might be in. I really like my new storage containers for Le Havre!

I can do pretty much wherever, except my place.

I unfortunately will be unavailable for gaming until next weekend at the earliest. Have fun though!

Great suggestion for a Sat. afternoon! Thanks Marty and Lewis!
